Our mission is to create thoughtfully crafted wall art that inspires curiosity and conversation, and to be an advocate for emerging artists and the designs they bring to life.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Quirky Builds is the brainchild of Mark Petersen. Mark has been married to his wife, Rosanne, for nearly 30 years, a fact that continues to impress anyone who knows anything about the Quirky founder. Together they raised three boys. There are also five grandchildren in the mix, all of whom he loves dearly and who are, by most accounts, slightly frightened of him and confused by his strange behavior. Originally from Minnesota, Mark now lives on the banks of the Kentucky River just outside Lexington, Kentucky. The move was motivated by the scenery, the slower pace of life, and a polite but unmistakable request from relatives back in Minnesota.

Before launching Quirky Builds, Mark spent many years as a homebuilder. He eventually earned a degree in English Literature, which explains both the quality of the craftsmanship and the occasional arcane use of language. He went on to spend many more years as a magazine editor in the home building world and later as a copywriter and content creator for companies in the residential construction and building-products industries, work he still does when he’s not busy designing, building, and overthinking Quirky products and website copy.
