This collection brings a diverstiy of voices into the Quirky Builds world. Shared Lines features simple, abstract line drawings created by emerging artists, many of them college students, each interpreting emotion through restraint rather than illustration. These pieces represent a symbolic narrative, but are intentionally open, offering just enough form to invite feeling, reflection, and personal meaning. By keeping the work abstract and uncomplicated, the focus lives at the intersection of meaning and how the piece is experienced.

TUNNEL LIGHT
On this occasion, I happened to be feeling a bit discouraged, which is not unusual for an über-ruminator like myself. For the ten-thousandth time, my long-suffering wife said just the right thing to drag me out of my funk. At that moment, the old adage “There is always light at the end of the tunnel” came to mind, and I realized that that light is usually her.

THE ARTIST
Mark Petersen, the founder of Quirky Builds, and his wife live in an idyllic valley on the Kentucky River. Mark works as a magazine editor and copywriter covering the home-building industry. He has raised four sons who, surprisingly enough, still call him on occasion. When he’s not writing or editing, or wondering what he wants to be when he grows up, he enjoys building quirky things in his shop.
